August 15 Basque Museum and Cultural Center's WineFest.  One of the oldest and most popular wine festivals in the Treasure Valley is the Basque Museum and Cultural Center's Winefest. Now in its 11th year, the outdoor event will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, starting at 5:30 p.m.  Selected Idaho wineries and distributors will be on hand offering tasting samples of their wines. Each ticket-holding adult will be given a commemorative glass to use for the tastings and to enjoy a full glass of wine if they wish to purchase one.  There'll also be plenty of food on hand from the Basque Block's restaurants, including Gernika Basque Pub & Eatery, Leku Ona Basque Restaurant, The Basque Market and Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery.  Tickets for the Winefest can be purchased in advance for $27 for a single ticket by calling the museum at 343-2671. Tickets are also available the day of the event for $30.

The admission price includes six food and beverage vouchers that attendees can trade in for appetizers and wine. Additional vouchers will be available for $1 each.

Downtown Boise's Basque Block (Grove Street between Capitol Boulevard and 6th Street

August 22 5th Annual Idaho Wine Festival. Treasure Valley Wine Society's annual tasting and competition at the Crystal Ballroom in downtown Boise. Public tasting and peoples choice voting. From 5 to 9 pmOnly Idaho wines are eligible to be judged by the professional panel, and any qualified winery in the state is invited to participate in both the competition and the public wine tasting. This year's judging will take place one week before the festival so that results will be available to the public on the evening of the festival. Tickets are $25 and available in advance (www.treasurevalleywinesociety.org) or at the door. Attendees receive a commemorative glass to use for tasting any of the more than 100 wines that will be offered. A silent auction will run from 5 to 8 p.m. for dozens of wine-related items. Proceeds are used to promote the educational activities of the Treasure Valley Wine Society.

September - Date TBA TASTE OF IDAHO.  An opportunity for consumers to taste all of the best food and beverage Idaho has to offer.  Idaho fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, jams, breads, pickles and much more, offered by Idaho farmers, producers and chefs will highlight this show. In addition, adults will have the opportunity to taste some of Idaho’s fine wines and local beers. 

Taste of Idaho will offer cooking demonstrations, wine pairing classes, and other culinary education demonstrations. A competition for professional chefs, sanctioned by the American Culinary Federation, will feature Idaho food products in a “black box” competition.  For more information call (208) 332-8671.

October - Date TBA The College of Idaho's 8th Annual Taste of Harvest.  Enjoy the bounty of Idaho's fall harvest with food, wine and music in a celebration for people of all ages.  All proceeds benefit a scholarship fund for children of migrant labor, whose work is vital to the health of Canyon County's harvest.  For more information call 208-459-5011.
