North Willamette Harvest Trail.  Spend the day in the North Willamette during the 2014 Oregon wine harvest season.  Your day will include a guided bus tour to three NWV wineries and one saké brewery for complimentary tastings, nibbles, and hands-on harvest activities at each.  The tour will take you into the vineyard where you will learn about the varietals planted, farming methods used to cultivate the perfect vintage, vineyard and crop management, environmental threats and harvesting methods.  On the crush pad you will discover how the freshly picked fruit is received and processed.  Help sort or destem the grapes and process the fruit into juice.  Learn about the science, testing and equipment needed to ferment your favorite wines.  Complete a punch down and see how barrels effect the development of the wine.

Along the journey you will learn more about the region from your experienced tour guide on the bus and enjoy a wine country lunch at one of your winery stops, all included in your ticket.  Please note, wine harvest is an agricultural activity and as such the timing and activities is unpredictable.  Specific activities of the tour are dependent on the status of harvest.  Just like wine harvest, this event is rain or shine.  Cost is $95.

Seaside Downtown Wine Walk.  The Seaside Downtown Development Association invites Oregon wineries to come to Seaside and set up inside downtown businesses pouring samples of their best wines for the public.  They set up three different locations selling their commemorative wine glasses and check ID's.  The glasses are required and are sold for $10 each, the ID bracelets are free (if you're over 21)!  Participants are given maps indicating in which business each winery is located then the fun begins!  The wineries are allowed to sell unopened bottles, so if you find a new favorite you can take a bottle home with you! 

Most of the wineries charge a small tasting fee, making it an inexpensive way to experience new wines and check out what downtown Seaside has to offer.  Some locations offer live music, and it's a great time for browsing the stores and maybe finding a gift for that special someone or a wonderful souvenir for yourself!  For additional information call 503-717-1914.
