St Josef’s Winery Annual Grape Stomping Festival.  This is the Northwest’s original Grape Stomping event started by the family owned and operated St Josef’s back in 1983.  Proprietors, Josef & Lilli who emigrated from Germany, wanted to pass on a little bit of the harvest spirit to the burgeoning Oregon wine industry.  Since running a vineyard and winery is a lot hard work, they believed it was important to start the busy “crush” season off with a lighthearted approach.  It has grown to involve stomping in a 1200 gallon Oak barrel that holds the equivalent 3,000 bottles of wine, lively Bavarian music and food (Over 400 lbs of special St Josef’s recipe sausages & homemade sauerkraut) in a casual, relaxed European atmosphere.  Tours with the winemaker will also occur throughout the day.  Admission is $10 for those over 21 (children under 18 are free if supervised) and includes souvenir wine glass, wine tasting and additional wine discounts.
