Monet Restaurant and Garden
French Culinary Impressionism...at its Best!

Reservations Recommended

Just one visit to Ashland, Oregon's renowned Monet Restaurant and Garden promises to be an "Ah ha!" experience for the first-time visitor.   Just as the soft hews and relaxing subject matter of Claude Monet's famous Impressionist paintings have charmed people for decades, so too will this contemporary French restaurant and garden, created and styled in the character of its namesake.

Alfresco dining at Monet recalls the heart and soul of the famous French Impressionist as The Garden at Monet's Restaurant - Ashland, OR completely as does dining indoors.  Plants much like those of Claude Monet's own garden and his paintings grow in the garden surrounding the restaurant's terrace -- a perfect spot for dining in the summer, and a close-at-hand resource of herbs and flowers used by your chef in beautifully prepared dishes and freshly decorated tables... indoors and out.  Soft tones of the artist's palette soothe those who dine indoors.  Pale pinks and greens drench the dining room, where walls are brightened by replicas of Monet oil paintings, reminders of the genius that created them.

Honoring genius does not stop with Monet's decor.  Unforgettable, authentic French cuisine convinces many diners that genius resides in the  Monet kitchen as well.  French Chef Pierre Verger and his American wife Dale created Monet Restaurant and Garden in 1991.  Its theme and function were to be outlets for the eminent skills and artistry of the entrepreneurial couple.

Pierre's domain is the kitchen, where he interprets dishes from his native France with a light touch and artistic flair consistent with the restaurant's theme.  Dale creates and maintains the ambiance of the dining areas, completing the elegantly casual setting fit for the presentation of memorable Monet meals.  She also joins her gracious wait staff helping to insure the most memorable of dining experiences.

From appetizers and salads to full meals and desserts, Monet dining is first a feast for the eyes, then for the palate.  Culinary masterpieces include Smoked Salmon wrapped around a delicious avocado mousse, creamy broccoli soup drizzled with fresh cream, and Mediterranean linguine with sautéed artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and mushrooms.  Most meals come with fresh whole-grain French bread.  All portions are generous, so be sure to save room for a scrumptious dessert. (See current menu.)

A Word About the Chef

Chef Pierre Verger began his training in  Tain-l' Hermitage in the Rhone Valley, considered the most gastronomic corner of France.  He continued at the renowned Plaza Athenee Hotel in Paris.

Before opening Monet Restaurant and Garden in a gracious Ashland home, Pierre had three restaurants, one on Long Island and two in the San Francisco Bay Area.
