Touring & Tasting...
with Chuck Hill

In November of 2003, longtime Northwest wine author and columnist Chuck Hill joined Wines Northwest as a contributor and collaborator.

Chuck’s experience in reporting the Northwest wine scene is more than 20 years, and he is well known for six editions of his guide, Northwest Wines & Wineries.  Chuck’s articles on wine travel themes have appeared in Sunset Magazine in recent years, and he has continued to publish cookbook projects, the most recent of which, The Joy of Oysters, is a success in the marketplace.

Chuck’s feature articles, wine reviews and food/wine topics will appear on Wines Northwest in his Touring and Tasting section.  His wine country travels, wine tastings, dining and recipe recommendations will be the major focus of his contributions, and he will be helping Wines Northwest develop major new projects in coming years.

A Washington native, Chuck has traveled extensively throughout the region during his 20 years of reporting on the Northwest wine industry.  His Northwest Wines & Wineries guides set the standard for NW wine touring information during the 1990s and into the new millennium. These tomes were compiled with the assistance of many, but special credit goes to close friend, Steve Gaddis, who continues to share a wine-wanderlust with Chuck in their "Wine Trippin' with Chuck and Steve.

When not wine touring or tasting the latest vintages, Chuck works as creative director at Seattle advertising agency, Ballard Bratsberg, Inc.  He is supported in all activities by his wife Barbara Bratsberg and his son Andrew, a student and researcher in microbiology at the University of Washington.
