No
question about it. With more than 30 years and five
generations of wine-growing history behind them, the Scott Henry
family is widely known for its deep commitment to the
viticultural management of its Umpqua Valley farm lands and its
production of fine, hand-crafted wines from the many grape
varietals grown there. The Scott Henry family has earned
the respect of other Oregon wine-industry pioneers, as well as a
loyal following of customers and a wide variety of awards and
praise from wine tastings and festivals worldwide. It is
one of Oregon's oldest and most prestigious producers of
premium wines.
Always striving toward perfection, family
patriarch Scott Henry III extended his knowledge and creativity
to the family vineyards. He developed a unique trellising
and canopy management system that optimizes the maturation of
grapes and the quality of the resulting world-class Henry Estate
wines. The Scott Henry Vertical Trellis System
is used exclusively in Henry Estate vineyards, and today, it has
been adopted and used throughout many of the world’s finest
wine-growing regions including Australia, New Zealand, South
America and North America.
Vineyards surrounding the Henry Estate
Winery currently produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay,
Pinot Noir, Merlot, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau and White Riesling.
"Great wine is grown in the vineyard," the Henry family believes.
That's why 75% of all grapes used at the winery are estate grown,
insuring complete control through constant vineyard oversight.

Henry
Estate Winery releases its wines two years later than most wineries to
ensure the proper balance and character for which Henry Estate is known.
It also tries to hold back wine each year to insure consumers the
opportunity to experience vintage differentiation.
From its meager
beginnings in 1978, Henry Estate produced only 2,000 gallons of
wine. Today, full production is 18,000 cases, 75% of which is
handcrafted from Henry's estate-grown grapes.
The entire Henry
family is dedicated to maintaining and growing Henry Estate as one of
Oregon’s oldest and most prestigious producers of fine wine. The
pioneering spirit of Henry Estate has been an inspiration to many
newcomers in the Oregon wine business. That inspiration and spirit
is a foundation for the entire Oregon wine industry, and it will
continue to build the legacy and character of Scott Henry III.
Be sure to visit
this beautiful river-side winery while in the Umpqua Valley. Bring
a picnic lunch and enjoy it in the lovely Memory Garden,
honoring Ella and Cal Henry, next to the vineyards. Together, the
estate vineyards and the garden create pastoral surroundings not to be
forgotten; the Tasting Room and Gift Shop provide plenty of pleasure for
the wine enthusiast and the wine-country shopper.
